Default Blue smoke when pulling away

Hi,

Got a small problem with my S1, if I sit at idle for more than 30secs or so, when I pull away it chucks out loads of blue soke out the back. It doesn't smoke when it starts up or on boost or when lifting off.

Had new stem seals about 1000miles ago, just had an oil change too with fully synthetic 5w50, but still doing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

IIRC Thats a sign of a worn turbo mate.

Think your right as its just started to smoke on boost now aswell! so much for being a "rebuilt" turbo, why do people lie when they sell things?

Assuming good top end as you say you have done stem seals, could also be worn engine, whats the millage?

Yeah top end is good was rebuilt around 1000miles ago, new cam/lifters etc, bottom end had new shells and bearings, just done a compression test, 155psi on all 4. hopefully its just the turbo.

if it's only a hint of blue, then i wouldn't panic, mine has a bit now and then when coming on boost apparantly (can't see it when i'm giving it some).
nothing any other time that i notice.
definitely sounds turbo related to me though as i've had a few fail in the past.

My turbo was knackered and it was doing the same. Didnt smoke from cold, only once the turbo housing got warm.

try some thicker oil.

15w 50 might help it abit.

Little update, took turbo off today to find theres nothing wrong with it. Checked plugs to find number 3 was covered in oil, done a wet compression test to find piston rings are knacked. Going to build a new forged engine, got to choose between a CVH or Zetec now.

ah thats shame mate, engine spec all depends on your spec, if u have a uprated head and run after market managment, if u dont have either stay cvh

Got a big valve ported and polished head and running cosworth managment. Will be easier to chuck another CVH in as its all setup for it, but 16v Zetec does sound tempting, even if its just to get rid of the CVH rattle lol
