Question focus rs engine an maybe gear box in s2?

im planning on putting the focus rs zetec into my s2 i know this in itself is relativly straight forward when using the s2 gearbox and the 1800 zetec flywheel i dont mind doing this with quaife internals, but i didnt know if anyone had used the gearbox aswell and if so was there any mods needed to the car itself as i have my s2 fully restored and ready for spraying but dont wana get it done and have to cut the fresh paint afterif anyone can help let me know cheers.

The only tip I can give is not to use the S2 gearbox, even the CTS Stage 2+ box's have been broken many many times, stick with the FRS box fella!
Crazycage on here is the man to explain whats needed to fit it to the S2, i'm sure he'll be on with the details mate!

you need to trim the inner wing a little for the box to fit in the hole lol, then its just a case of fabbin up all your mounting points and doing a hydrauilc clutch conversion the rest is easy.

p-s if you cant weld dont try it .

crazycage, just thinking out aloud, with these inner arch mods, is it not possible to move the engine over towards the drivers side to give the room required or not? Never looked at it but was just wondering the other day.

most of the focus rs's with big power (350 odd bhp and same torques) use standard boxes and as crazy cage said above not that hard ahs long as you can be bothered to weld and cut and shut mounts. Plus you need custom drive shafts.

we measured that option and still won't fit, also tried moving engine backwards to gain a little but still no good you need to take off about 15mm if my memory serves me right

Yeah doesnt take much to do a tidy job, if my welding skills were better i'd do it for sure!
Had a few gearbox's fail at quite low BHP so would be nice to have something reliable in there!

Yes mate, I had a valve seat drop from the head destroying my engine!!!
So building up a new one, with a new block, forged pistons and rods (Wossner, PEC), and a repaired NMS head!

heres a some pic's that i have just gone and took there is very little paint if any as it the coversion was done in a rush last year for classic ford show !! so its all out over winter for some sealer and paint .
btw i run five mounts, two on the engine and three on the gearbox because i hammer mine hard off the line at the pod on 888s .

pity i havent got any pics of my mounts/bay as we made that look a lot nicer. The inner wings are tapered in on both sides, seam sealered and painted it and it looks spot on.

Thing is, the above setup works -i've launched it at the pod with Micky t's and Gary has done countless more - it's goto have more than 50 full bore launches under its belt.
