Default newman phase 4 camshaft ?

got of the phone to someone at newman today and they recommend their single springs (200lb) for the phase 4 cam not the doubles which iirc are 220lbs. anyone else use this cam and which springs have u got? thanks

I was using kent springs with my old newman cam but was advised by them to switch to their single springs when i recently bought another, which i have done. However reading posts on here there seems to be some conflict on this, and apparently the standard ford ones are the ones to use iirc. I was a bit miffed by this, and to be honest if that is the case then Newman need telling really as it's pretty poor if they're recommending and selling the wrong part for the job! I've had no problems so far, but the new cam's gone in a fresh engine and hasn't been mapped after running in so i guess i'll see whether or not it causes an issue. I'm sure someone will be along soon to add to this

I actually wore a newman cam out after having it in for a couple of years, and when i phoned up about it David just suggested i simply replace it, and after asking what springs i was using, said the kent springs may have been a bit heavy and thus accelerated the wear on the cam. He said that if i had any problems with the new cam using his lighter springs he would be assured to replace it under warranty.

Newmans singles are 190lb, stock items are 200lb, and Newmans doubles are also 200lb although i'm sure they used to be 220lb?!
IIRC Karl Norris said to me that the 190lb's are not enough and that 220lb is too much so stock 200lb springs were the one to use,
