if you've got smoke out of the breather, you've got ring damage.

Yeh sounds like the oil rings to me. Does the pressure push the oil cap off. Check for oil in your intercooler aswell

not likely to be the turbo.
how are the stem seals? if they are well gone then it could be them, but they have to have fallen apart for them to be that bad.

Oil in the intercooler???? my car has a spec-r breather system etc and has oil in the intercooler...? what could it be?

It only ever smokes (a puff at start up) if it has been standing for a few days... valve stem oil seals i would have though. So why would there be oil in the primary intercooler pipe?

Cheers

sounds like rings to me, you say new bottom end? done yourself? has the block been honed etc?
head gasket possibly gone between bore and oil gallery? was it a new gasket, skimmed block and head etc?

Should there be a one fitted?

I was just wondering if there was a common fault with the breather system to cause oil in the intercooler without the car smoking?

andy130 have you run it it? stupid question i know! i guess if your rings aren't bedded in you could have excessive blow by?
