Default arp head stud & nut kit

My brother has just bought arp stud and nut kit for his s2 and on the fitting instructions it says to only torque them to 60ftlb and thats it.

Has anyone else fitted these before and was that what yous torqued them too? just does'nt seem very tight

i use the kit and thats what mine are tightened too and so far has been fine, just rebuilding it with steel bits for a bit more power and reliability

He has just re-built the engine not long ago using steel rods and wossner pistons he put a felpro head gasket on from burton and the arp stud and nut kit and the head gasket has gone already thats what made me think they were'nt tight enough ( he is running about 25 psi of boost but surely they should be ok)

tell him to put the stud and nut kit, along with the felpro gasket in the bin. Use std ford items. RSt's generally don't blow gaskets unless overheated, and happily take 2 bar of boost.

Yeah he was using standard ford stuff before and it was ok untill it snapped a rod then he thought about upping the power abit more and would like to run 30 psi so thought if he got a stud and nut kit and good head gasket it would keep everything in place but it doe'nt look like its worked.

Does it not say 60lbs and then another 90 degree turn i.e. quarter turn after the torqued amount

Failpro (felpro) are not good on rst's m8 better using std ford or payen (same thing really).

got to agree felpro are crap ive gad four in my rs over the years and all of them have let go and the bore size on the gasket r too wide unless u r 20l zetecing(zvh) it or 19 cvh. in the end i had to go and buy a cheap head gasket 8.86p and its bean fine ever since(go ford mate)

Not really sure why people use Felpro gaskets on 1.6CVH's? They aren't a turbo gasket and the bore is too big.

Stick to standard Ford bits. APT and NMS cars have proved they are the best.

Yeah we noticed that the bore was to big on the felpro gasket and rang burton who said it was ok and they recomended that gasket. Anyway got a new ford one today and its fitted everything seems ok so far.

i had no running probs with the felpro but just like above was throwing 40 quid to burton every 6 months lol. every time i had a water leak or the car just slightly overheated within a few days the dreaded mayo would appear

I torqued mine up to about 75lbs/ft, even tho evry one has told me not to use ARP headbolt on a RsT, but they were free so I'm giving them a go. As for head gasket stay with the OE ford one.
