Default engine

Hi Gus this engine is in my car now thanks to my cvh giving up last year. The car is a genuine 40k car from new backed up with loads if history. When the engine died I was going to break the car but I had already worked with gadget on the car and we talked about this engine and decided to fit it in mine. It was not as easy to fit as you would of thought but gadget is brilliant at doing this stuff and loves a challenge. I had to fabricate and modify alot of parts to get it in nicely. I cant thank gary enough for his help on the car and would recomend him to anyone I would also like to thank Dave Moss (yum) and hellen for trailoring it to garys for me. The car is now nice and responsive to drive but still needs to be set up by msd properly, this will hopefully happen the start of next year but the car did make it to central day and castle combe shows this year.

cheers Dave

Slight understatement Dave, Once the engine was fitted, we started to mount the manifold and turbo etc, COMPLETELY overlooking the fact that Cliff's S1 had no servo or master cylinder , meaning once the turbo was bolted up, the exhaust housing studs were touching the servo!! DOH!! To fit it in and to keep the servo meant completely reworking the pipe before the collector angling the turbo inwards a bit more and downwards, which obviously then meant completely re doing the downpipe! Losing the servo was a last resort but we were adamant that it was going to stay - And it did . That was just a couple of overcome problems, the rest i would have thought will be highlighted on the resto thread!!

True mate we certainly had alot of highs and lows with it didn`t we. I dont think the -8 degree temperatures in the garage helped either. I still remember that day we took off 2 weeks work to modify parts. I just remember putting the parts in the vectra`s boot packing the tools away in silence and that 2 hour drive home!. I think the resto thread would be a novel if we list all the problems we hit. Just hope the next stage of modifications go alot smoother mate!
