Yeah there was one on ebay a while back, only one i've ever seen though.
TBH i'm sure it was just gaskets, seals, copper washers etc.. dont think it was actually any of the moving parts so could probably source most of it elsewhere, get the appropriate gasket paper and a scalpel and away you go!

Hi

Some pics of my recently refurbed metering head...........

I did it myself..... disassembled, cleaned-degreased and painted...........with new metering head gasket, new black brackets, nuts & bolts and brand new Banjoo bolts and copper washers for injector hoses.
I only need brand new braided hoses for metering head and will be ready to fit.

Hi Mars

If you only want metering head gasket try to find it on Ford Dealers will cost 10-12 pounds, they are still available, I bought mine 2 months ago.
This is the Finis Code 1630674

cheers mate, you're a diamond! Are there any other things I need or is the gasket sufficient? All my banjos and banjo washers are new, but do I need to replace anything else inside?

I can't see that just replacing washers/banjo bolts and painting it, whilst it may look good will actually do anything to remedy any problems with the metering unit. Unless you're just cleaning it to have it looking mint?

No, I'm having mine looked at cos it's causing problems. I'm looking for the parts so it can be put back together correctly. I mentioned the washers and banjos so Anvini didn't have to dig out the finis codes for them.

Maybe I wrote it wrong, sorry

haha yeah, exactly my thoughts mate. i split mine, painted it up, and bolted it back together with new gasket, but purely for it to look clean and pretty.

if i had worries of it not functioning correctly, id be simply looking for a replacement that did work, as the replacements parts that actually do anything of merit cost a bomb new, if even still available!

I'm not sure what actually wears out/breaks in the metering units, does anyone know?
The only thing i've had die before is the EMFPA and so it wasnt fuelling.

I spoke with the guy doing mine and he said that there isnt much to change in them... but the gaskets can leak/split. He said the components inside can just be tightened/reset/realigned etc.

Got my gasket coming in the morning, thanks Anvini Cost Ł11.01 (ex VAT)

Hi

Done for good looking because was full of grease (old oil burned and stucked inside walls and moving parts of the metering head) and some rusty parts.
I think full mechanical refurb of metering head is very difficult due unavailable parts and not easy set up of them.

Was just replying to the thread in general mate, wasn't tryin to have a dig at anyone at all! I was trying to get at the point a few others have now picked up on that metering units seem to be a bit of a black art in repairing them and that unless you can replace the internal parts that acually meter the fuel etc which it seems isn't financially viable it will just be a 'pretty' metering unit rather than a manky looking fucked metering unit lol. I've nothing against cleaning things up to make them look nice though

I'll see what state mines in next week. The guys gonna do the best he can with it anyway. Mine works, just not very well with start up due the flap mechanism or something? Also mines missing the blanking plug, but ain't that a simple case of adding a M6 bolt or something?

Cheers for the offer of banjos and washers, Anvini

And Dave, I never thought ya were digging at anyone... It's cool

What we need is someone to stip one down take some nice piccy's and post them up so we can all get a better understanding of how they work!
I have the top part of the metering unit in my garage, might strip that down later but I have a alloy clutch quadrant to fit first.

Hoping for a quick response here guys....

If a fueling meter allows fuel to come out of the boost hose (lower) is there an easy cure, like possibly just changing the gasket between the top fuel part (with lines attached) to the top of the metering unit?

Or is this something alittle more a case of just binning it and getting another one?

I have looked through the haynes manual because all i can think that'll let fuel thru it is the fuel distributor is leaking thru its seal... heres the bit from haynes

It has to be the O-Ring thats causing this issue, surely?? Anyone have a finis code, or know what can be used?

Heres the exploded diagram ford sent thru.....Maybe not what you want, but its better than nothing lol

By the looks of it, theres no o-ring between the fuel distributor and the bottom part, although its not a whole unit that this diagram makes out!

Any more news on the metering unit? I have just bought an rs turbo and its a nightmare to start when warm. I can just get it to click if i take the air filter off and get some one to lightly press on the metering flap...

Any one know where i can get a new/recon metering unit?

Cheers

Rob,
Every Rs turbo I have had runing KE has always coughed and spluttered on start up after a longer than expected turn over period!

Does anybody know what causes this? Once its up and running after a few second its fine but if anything it can be a little embarassing if you are taking contractors out to look at work. Its a sort of will it or wont it start situation!

For one of a few reasons the idle mixture is wrong is all it will be, auxilary air device not working, faulty coolant temp sensor, faulty cold start injector, leaking main injectors, incorrectly set idle mixture screw.
