haha yeah, exactly my thoughts mate. i split mine, painted it up, and bolted it back together with new gasket, but purely for it to look clean and pretty.
if i had worries of it not functioning correctly, id be simply looking for a replacement that did work, as the replacements parts that actually do anything of merit cost a bomb new, if even still available!
