All great in theory, but if its an MFi RST you're talking about, tuning one of those these days is a bit like lucky dip.

We've vowed that we won't do another one.

Well if you mean set up on rolling road then you are talking bollax. I've had 2 mfi Rs turbos and been set up on both without any problems.

If u are not talking about rolling road then I appologise

I'm talking generally and from direct experience. The odds of an RS Turbo coming in, getting set up and leaving with everyone happy is slim. If I could be bothered, I'd give you some real stats.

The MFi bits are old now and unless you really do compromise your standards, they just aren't good. Sorry, but it's the opinion of someone that gets to see a cross-section of RST's, not just the really good ones.

100% true! mfi is old, crap and had its days 20 years ago!
tuning one is not an issue but try keeping one tuned is a nightmare!

Christian is correct in what he says, unless the entire car is brand new you will normaly find something wrong with a RS!
TPS, FP Voltage, ECU (Ign, or Fuelling), Knock Sensor, ACT Sensor, EMFPA, Coolant Temp, CSI, general wiring, etc...etc...
It's not just MFI's though, EFI RS's are almost as old and can and do suffer the same failures.

You've only got to do a survey of all the tuners and see how many just WON'T touch an RS Turbo any more. It's the truth and why so many RST owners are switching to EFi. There is still an issue even then that not all tuners will work on all ECU's. But thats life.
