Default Steering column hell.. help? / Resolved.

Hi!

I have problems with steering column, all wearing parts are new.

There is too much tolerance between axle & bearing and this is causing steering wheel movement up/down badly.
Where that white part belongs? Because if you put it under the bearing it falls down to steering column tube because there is nothing to stop it.

help?

Not knowing the mk4 design, it still looks as if the white part is wrong way around. It looks like it needs to push between the axle and the bearing. That would be very similar to how it's in a mk3.

Yep, it is wrong way in the picture. But if you turn it over and install steering wheel and tight nut white part is still loose between steering wheel & bearing.

Is this the case with your Cossie steering wheel, or with the standard also? I'm sure the wheel needs to press the white part firmly to the bearing. If it's loose, you might still have something built wrong or with wrong model year parts or even mk3 parts at the underside of the column?

Yep. In this case with standard steering wheel too. One option, if i add some washers betweeen that bush and steering wheel ; )

On more time:
Are you sure you have the parts correctly at teh bottom of the column? The two bushes that press together and the cone spring right way around? It's the springs job to pull that white part firmly to the bearing.

Problem solved, my fault. I turned white plastic thing upside down and it start to make sense. Thanks Jesse for your patience with idiot . =)
Brakes feel more solid and working too. I believe that axle caused that shaking because of too much of tolerance to move.
