Default Mickey, ref GRS...

Said i'd get a few pics of my intercooler setup for ya the other day so took a few quick snaps earlier mate, or others who may be interested. Plenty of room between rad and intercooler the way i've done it :

Cheers Mickey !! I put a fair bit of thought into at the time, had never seen it done like that but knew how i 'wanted' it to fit.....i didn't like the way it fitted how they tell you to fit them, up under the bonnet and tight to the rad. Doing it the way i've done it there was no need to mess around with the alternator etc and it left a good few inches of airspace between the rad/fans and the intercooler which helps the temps i think. Funnily enough all the shows etc i've been to and had the car parked up i've never had anyone really look/ask me about it, it was one of the mods i've done that i've been totally happy with! I'll have a look through me archives lol but not sure if i've any pics with the bumper off.
Dave.

Thats pretty much how I did mine. Yours does look very very neat Dave. I wanted mine to fit in the frame of the bumper cut out with showing the front pannel under the cooler as I think it looks really really untidy. I also wanted to keep the fans on the front.

Ended up with this.

@ rstdave AND muz,you lads must have trimmed a good 'ol amount from the back of youre bumpers???????And Dave, you're bloodly pic's have disappeared, but I can sort of remember them!! It's just that I had a go at fitting my GRS intercooler like you lad's have yours, but ran out of time. But I could see that the bumper deffo needs cutting at the back.Plus care needs to be paid to make sure the bottom outlet off the cooler is'nt resting on the welded on nuts on the bottom crossmember that the bolts holding on the passenger side anti-roll bar plates bolt into.As I said before, the fitment looks bloody brill, but theres a lot of work involved. Will try again at the w/end.Regards,Micky

Here ya go again mate! Yeah i did have to chop a fair bit out the back of the bumper, was a bit fiddly because of th metal inserts, i did it with an extra long jigsaw blade and the body shop melted the lip to smooth it out. I also cut the bottom bar out of my bumper, didn't touch the top one though as i got it to sit underneath (mine is a 90 spec bumper). The bottom outlet on mine does nigh on touch the nuts you're talking about, ideally i would have had the outlet moved but i didn't bother in the end lol. I also ground off the top lip of the front cross member as i wanted to sit the cooler in front of it and i didn't want to chop the whole of the front bumper out. You can kind of see, in the last pic especially, how much i chopped out by the position of the cooler in the bumper and how far 'into' the bumper it goes.
Dave

thats the same as i did to mine had the lower outlet cut of and turned to face another way so could get it as low as possible, if i remember right it sits about 6 inches lower than it should and infront of the cross member a bit

Well I finally got round to fitting my GRS cooler in its new position yesterday.I used rstdave's pic's and info on here as the fitting instructions!! Fitting the intercooler and spaceing it out from the bottom crossmember was handy enough,I was just very carefull about measureing up for the position of the drill holes.Spacer's were measured and cut,but I did need to add an extra flat washer or two for the perfect gap.But cutting the bumper was another thing altogether.I had to cut loads off the back of it,actually thought I'd never get it to fit,but knew that it must,as rstdave fitted his.So I get trimming off bits from the back, and eventually got the bumper to fit back onto the car.I then used a long file to finish off all my cuts, because unlike dave and muz above,my bumper did look a bit "home cut".But I'm happy enough,as mine's only a trackday car,and at 80MPH no one will notice!! Would like to thank rstdave for ALL the advice he gave me on here on this fitment, top man. Roll on Croft to see how it all works on track.Sorry no pic's!!Regards,Micky

Excellent stuff mate, glad you got it done in the end, it certainly frees up some room! For what seems like a small job it's surprisingly tricky to get it just right! Happy to be of assistance mickey, that's what this place should be about....anything i've done i'm more than happy to share any knowledge i have on the subject, always good to help out a fellow rs owner
Dave.
