Problem changing gears
Hi all. Having an issue with my rst. It had a new clutch 12000 miles ago, and I just fitted a new clutch cable. When its cold to warm changes gear fine, but when it gets hot its a right bastard and wont go into gear. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

hi
when you fitted the new cable did you set the quadrant right before attaching it as if the problem has just started it would be best to disconnect clutch cable at gearbox end first then reset the clutch quadrant make sure the pawl is on the smooth bit of quad before you reattach it then connect gearbox end i know its a pain taking out the metering unit on mfi setup cars to get to cable properly but thats life as if you dont set it right it might not be disengaging fully and that will knacker your clutch or might be the box synchromesh
have you upgraded the power of the engine resently to exceed the clutches handling power
do you rag the car to much as the rs box aint to good with loads of torque as i have found out the costly way

jack the front up there will be an allen key bolt at the front of the box but lower the car back on its wheels remove bolt if oil comes out a bit its fine but if known then i suggest a top up and a look if its coming out the driveshafts at the g/box

is there any whine when hot or cold or do you here a chatter when cold ect ect and goes when you put the clutch down as the layshaft bearings make a noise when buggered but the synchromesh allows for smooth gear change so if thats going on a gear or gears it gives the fault you describe but without driving it i can only give you the bad news here
