oil leak crankshaft

Default oil leak crankshaft

iv got a oil leak by the crank on the cambelt side, how hard is it 2 change the seal and can i do it with engine still in? cheers

you should be able to do it with the engine still on mate, just take your down pipe off for access and jack it up nice and high. Your only downside is room and workspace but if you think of the car as an engine stand then you can pretty much do anything with the engine in place, the only problem is access obviously.

If you don't have enough room you can always drop the engine down on the belt side by loosening/removing the engine mount on the inner wing.Put a jack under the sump to control the drop required.Regards,Micky

ok, cleaned all oil off with brake cleaner, then started it up to see were exactly its leaking from while reving, but ther is no leak :S i took it to 100 mph pulled up, checked 2 see if it leaked, an there is nothin leaking?? but 1st time i noticed oil, it was sprayed up my header tank on my cam belt, but it hasnt leaked since i cleaned it today, just wondering what caused it?

If its only a small leak it will take a fair few miles plus getting that oil nice n thin again to start spewing out everywhere
