Default s2 sounds like a diesel

ok so just got the new s2 started today after leaning it up with the air mixture idle screw, starts on the button every time now.
Getting some blue smoke out the back and the engine is tappety, very similar to a diesel engine. Im thinking the oil is the stem seals and the tappety tap tap is the lifters.
Just wondering what items i should buy from burton power or where is the best place to go... cant see lifters at Burton but can see the stem seals. The car has piper 285 t2 cams so am a little confused as what to buy.
Cheers

ok have been reading up and been recommended to buy a full camshaft kit, what is the best to buy and where shall i get it from? got a stage 3 turbo, dump valve, 31 actuator, piper 285t2 cam but obviously going to change that, and unlimited boost chip. I really need a kit by tomorrow, i know its a long shot but anyone know anywhere around oxford?

You can get a std cam kit from any motor factors. They are rated for about 250bhp. Mine cost me just under Ł100 for camshaft and followers. When you buy oil seals get top hat ones there by far the better choice over the crappy cap ones. Theres not a lot of difference in price either.

Yeah go with a standard cam good balance of power and low down torque, any other cam will give you a few more horses up top but you will gain lag off boost.
Also with the failure rate of CVH cams it's going to be the cheaper option if it goes again in only a few hundred miles!

Make sure when you fit it you use plenty of cam lube, and as soon as the car has started hold the revs at 2000rpm for about 20mins to work harden the cam and lifters.
Really you should drive it for that time so the engine is under load.
Also make sure you've got good oil pressure (15psi@idle, 40psi@3000rpm, Oil@70-80degrees, or 30mins driving) otherwise the cam/lifters will destroy themselves in no time!

Yeah if it's top end there isnt a lot else it can be, although big ends can sometimes be mistaken for cam/lifters tapping.
To be honest if its not had a new cam recently it's not a bad thing to change it anyway, so long as it goes smoothly! Recently destroyed one myself
