hi all
ive my head done on my s2 with a newman cam . mate came round to time it in and it wont ideal so took round block its missing a bit , when i pulled up lifted bonnet turbo and manifold was glowing bright red i know this happens after hard use but only doing 20mph . so i rang a tunner to ask them and he said its retarded timing , never heard off this could any shed a bit off light on this for me .

this was happening with mine, got it set up by msd and it seemed to cure it, but if I nailed the car the turbo would glow a bit, did it do it before the head work?? my head also only did it after head work, i had a stage 3 big valve fully ported head from c-head-dev

to be honest i dont know, after mine was set up it was much better inrespect to the glowing issue, but i was also told of loads of reasons for the cause, one aalso being the turbo not flowing efficiant enough for ther airflow from the head causing backup gasses. Speak to a few tuners and see what they think, mine has now been broke, but thhe glowing issue was never fully cured

The ignition is retarded. Try twisting the dizzy clockwise a couple of mm, you'll probably find the engine wakes right up.
The reason is the ignition timing is related to the cam timing which you have changed.

got the car booked in at tunners for next week , gonna put it on the rollers so be good to see wot power its got , what do you think i should get from k&n air filter , scorpian exhaust , chip , newman cam , t3 turbo ?
