was driving back from local motor factors after trying to buy leads to attempt to fix my missfire, and car locks up and skids to a halt luckily wasnt going fast

So its stuck in the middle of the road, front wheels locked, cant be pushed, cant be towed, and its blocking the road, I felt a proper tit, had to wait for recovery truck.

So looks like I need a new gearbox (this one was a recon one previous owner had fitted feb 2007!!!) probably a clutch, and to make matters worse, when it locked up and nearly chucked me through the windscreen, its also jolted the radiator back (its not as sturdy as it should be due to stupid fuckin pace double capacity piece of shit) and its hit something sharp on turbo, and bust the fucking thing, steam shooting out everywhere.

So im on the lookout for a gearbox and radiator, although im half tempted to just say fuck it and break it for bits, but prob wouldnt get much as it stands????

What gearboxes fit??? do fiesta turbo ones fit??? Dont diesel ones work aswell or something??

 

had that happen to me at low speed, put a tow rope on the car got my mate to give it a good tug with his car and shot a cog out the box which freed the gearbox up and he towed me home

fiesta box has no lsd, diesel box has no lsd and is no stronger
best bet is to get a std recon one if ur running sub 180 bhp anymore than that then go for a stg1 bernie box or one similar

 

I attempted to give it a tug with my BMW, it still stinks of clutch now LOL, didnt budge an inch ha ha

Yes mate it was mine. went absolute wank to be honest.

I bought and fitted new rotor arm n dizzy cap before I went, and I bought a set of plugs to take with me.
Got there 10 mins before my appointment to be told they were running 45 mins behind, so I would have to find somewhere dry to go! (it was pissing down outside) (luckily my lass had followed me through in car) no "would you like to sit in our reception and have a cuppa etc" didnt even ask anything about the car, or what I was looking to achieve, just said would ring when it was done. so i left the car, and told him new plugs were in glove box.

2 hours later he rings me, says car is done but has a misfire, when asked what it could be he said probably plugs. So I ask him why he hasnt changed them and he says he couldnt get any in time, when asked what was wrong with the ones I supplied, he said the other lad who works there hadnt told him about them.

So I go to pick it up, and ask exactly what they have done, lad behind counter says he doesnt know, diffrent lad did it, and he had gone, so he would ring me. So they proceed to charge me Ł141.

He rings me later and I asked what he had done, He said he caliborated the fuel system, so I asked what he got the boost up to, to which he repies I didnt touch it, I left it at 11psi, couldnt set it up because of misfire, also didnt do a power run, again, due to misfire.

I said my boost gauge must be wrong then because it says its boosting at 15psi, to which he replies, it cant be, it has to have modifications to be running that boost.

To which I replied, its chipped you fuckin muppet, witha stage 3 head, piper cam etc etc.

So basically he spent 2 hours "tuning" the car and didnt notice it was chipped or anything, changed fuck all apart froma maybe a bit of fueling, and charged Ł141 for the pleasure.

I was taking it back 1st thing monday to demand he redo it properly now I had fitted the plugs, but now my gearbox has packed up n fucked off, im just going to have to let it go by the looks of it.

 

that happened to me mate but the diff was half way out the gearbox on his!

 

So are all standard escort turbo ones LSD??

How could he have not noticed your mods?? You cant even run 11psi on a standard car, the ECU would think its overboosting and shut the boost right down!! WHat a bunch of bell ends!!!!

My mate as a good working gearbox from his s2 he is braking and a re cord radiator (never fitted after re core) located in essex
