white smoke rs turbo
hi under acceleration there is white smoke can anybody tell me why cheers,i have also noticed there has been a small amount of oil dropped onto the exhaust the smoke is not constant,ive checked the oil cap and dipsick and there is no sign of water,there looks to be oil in the water bottle

or maybe turbo- is it using water?

the cars not using water,i cant believe its the head gasket it was only done 2 months ago and i paid £60-£70 for the head gasket

im not sure what it was now to be honest,its pissing me off a bit,its just come back from the body shop is looking mint,also its had a new turbo and botom end and various other bits,but thats the nature of them i guess,by the way its running 205 bhp and 300 ft/lbs of torque,are those headgaskets crap

My old s2 did this and it was the oil return pipe on the bottom of the turbo leaking oil on to the exhaust, got a right shock when the guy at ford wanted £35 for 4inches of rubber pipe
it could well be the headgasket but worth looking at the pipe

I don't want to sound like an arse, but if it made its peak power (bhp) at 3600rpm and with such a torque spike, that car was definately wheel-spinning!
Peak power should be close to the rev limit, so in a moderate spec RST, peak power will be somewhere between 5500 and 6000 rpm.

the guy at the dyno said it wasnt wheel spinning,its got a bayjoo chip,a stage one head and a new block bored to a 1660 lightened and balanced if that makes any difference.

No, no difference. I'd bet money it did have a traction issue. As I said, I don't want to sound like I'm being a c'ock, but hate to see people led under the impression that their cars have made a certain power, when it's down to a poor RR run.

but as for smoke issue, get a payen/ford head gasket on, i've got a couple of engines running them and thay are so good considering they are less than £18 from a motor factors.

as christian said something is not right there, look at any dyno printout and u will see most rs turbos make peak power between 5500 & 6000 rpm
also 300 ft/lbs of torque is not possible with ur spec and if ur car genuinely was 300 ft/lbs ur bhp should be around the same
