The main resons im opting for these ecus is because im running mfi and i want a reliable and want to run a safer engine with a good map. What gotec ecu are you using and does it have the same features as the mega squirt. Aslo are there any gotec or megasquirt friendly rolling roads for mapping. Are they quite easy to map yourself if i have never done anything like this before? Im fairly confident in doing things.

Gotech has everything you will ever need, i have the most basic ecu they do and its very good for the rs turbo, jamsport will fit and map it for you if you want, the ecu comes with a base map on and its very easy to go from there just plug your laptop in and start adjusting. My local rolling road took about 2 hours to get used to the software and thenn started mapping my car, said its very easy to use.

the first step I would take is find a mapper you like and trust, then listen to his advise based on experience as no matter how advanced any engine management is, you will find its performance is only as good as the mapper.
I run cossie management myself, which you may not have considered which is very effective and popular

im running gotech mfi on my drag car , recently ran 153kw atw at 1.5 bar boost on a dyno , not bad considering i used an egt and af meter and about 5 hours on a quiet piece of highway - hoping to get it to gotech about 5 km's down the road from my house for a proper setup when time permits. its really easy to use once you get your head around it

I run Emerald ecu, very good ECU.
Mine has been mapped by Dave Walker who is Emerald along side Karl.
To be honest it depends on who you choose to map your car as it is that person who will be working with your ECU.
