megasquirt problems??!!??
i was told 30 mins to fit my megasquirt management but i have spent 8 hours today and not even running!!
dont know whats going on.
just wondered if you lot had any ideas??
i have a 2.0l n/a zetec fitted in my 1989 escort.
its all been running but wouldnt run sweet on ford management so i bought some megasquirt engine management.
i was told its very simple job with 30mins because it is already got a base map for a 2.0l zetec engine, but guess what, ive been doing it 8 hours so far and i cant get it to work my car.
i have got a cvh engine loom so i found out that the injectors are paired up with the cvh loom and seperate with the zetec.
so i altered the loom so i have individual injectors as the ford zetecs have.
i have no lambda sensor fitted! i can fit one if i need to as i have a space for one to go, this is not a problem but i was told they dont need one to run??!!??
i was also told i dont need the idle controll valve wired up as it will run without it.
so basically i had it all wired up and tried to start i and it fired once but stalled and the red light came on.
any ideas of what to do?
it keeps trying to fire but wont.
i can get a laptop but i dont know what im looking for so any help is appreciated.

Potentially many things to go wrong and it's hard to say where to start. Assuming you do have a decent map for your engine then not running an ISC valve will cause problems straight off unless you've opened up the throttle plate to let some air in. Have you got the map sensor plumbed in? And is the EDIS wired up properly too (or are you on a distributor?).

well it shouldnt make any odds appatently as you dont use most of it anyway.
the cars got a complete 90 spec xr3i loom and i fitted a zetec engine and the megasquirt is supposed to run any engine.
its a problem with the wiring i believe but not my fault as i have wired it up as in the diagram provided but its not working properly.
