Default differeance between series 1 and 2 engines

is there a differance between a series 1 and 2 engine, the reason i asked is the original engine in my series 2 went bang and i installed an engine i had spare from when i had my xr3i (bought, was gonna drop it into the 3i but lost interest and bought a real rs.) i decided to fit a new cambelt and water pump but the water pump on my original engine is totally differant to the one on the spare. the original wter pump has one outlet and the spare one has 2 will post puics tonight to make description easier. any help appreciated

basic engine is the same apart from the s1 cam and valves are better, ancillary wise water pumps have different outlets so u will need to swap the pump over , s1 inlet manifold is a 2 peice job not one piece like the s2 so basicly just use the bare engine with all your s2 ancillarys and you will have no probs

flywheel and clutch are bigger on the s2 so use those

More or less every part is different in some way, but none of the changes make one better nor difficult to replace with the other.

cheers for the help people, yeah i noticed that the flywheel and clutch were smaller but swapped em over any, clutch on the s1 engine looked burned and the s2 clutch was like brand new the one problem ive got with the water pump is the mounting holes are different, will have another good look tonight.
