Default s2 rs turbo pointers please?

Hi all, new to passion ford, im looking to buy a s2 escort rs turbo and with my non existant knowlege on fords I need some of your good advice on the bits to look out for!!!

Also the milage on most of th cars in my price range (up to about £3500) is pretty high, how bomb proof are these engines? and how much would a rebuild look to set me back?

Any help would be fantastic!

Chris

I still fancy one lads, dont mind doing too much work to get it in a decent state.

looking around on the site so far i've found rear arches, boot, floor pans and battery tray. are there anymore structural things to look out for?

Everything mate give any potential buy a good gan awa, they old cars and most will need a bit TLC. Get one with a solid enough shell and gan from there IMHO

My advice is to spend enough money to get one that doesn't need structural welding. IMO, once it needs that it's on borrowed time.

You'll need to go and look at 100 shitters before you find a good one, but they are out there. Go to Ford Fair and/or National Day, there'll be plenty to choose from, but DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT be blinkered by some of the crap that 95% of sellers will spin you. Chances are the £3000 RS Turbo that you are standing infront of probably isn't 240bhp, but the owner will probably be telling you that it is.

after my experiance with the rst ive bought, id say look for one thats had a restoration to the body as most hide lots of rot and bad welding. and if possible wait it out and put more cash towards one. and allways get someone in the know to check it out even if its only the aa/rac
