Default another s2 problem...NEWMAN CAM???

Hi all,

I've just recently had a newman cam and solid lifters, double valve springs fitted to my S2, and now everytime I start it from cold, it struggles to idle and basically runs shit
It also chucks out loads of smoke from the exhaust when revved... I had a pooper cam in it before, and never had this problem!
Once the car is warmed up, it runs fine, with no problems!

Any one had the same thing happen to them, no how to fix it???

Did you set the lifters up correctly?

yeah, I didn't fit them but they were set up correctly! At first I had no compression in cylinder 3, but this was rectified as the lifter not being set up right! That was sorted and all seemed well.

Any ideas... Why would it be ok when warm, do you think the lifter has come loose?

I reckon the lifters are set up wrong. Who did them?

Also, IMO, double springs are too harsh and not really needed with a solid-lifter cam.

you need to modify the inlet, cold start bit, when i had my big head with solid lifters fitted they had to mod that to let more air in till it got warm.

works perfect! id give NMS a call

[quote=Christian and Beccy;3437609]I reckon the lifters are set up wrong.

Would this be the case, even though when the car is warm, it runs and comes on boost fine!

cheers for all the comments guys!

Do you think this problem could be down to the idle speed control valve?
Its running cosworth management, efi etc! Just an idea...

im running a newman cam in mine now and it's fine on the cossie management John, my car does not exhibit the same symptoms as yours.
Although it does idle a little rough until its warm, but that's because of the als mods and did this prior to the newman cam
im not running double valve spings on mine though
