Default Engine fitting?

Hey all, I recently undertook the task of swapping my engine over in my erst, Unlike the haynes manual way of doing things i unbolted the engine from the gearbox and lifted the engine out no probs! when it came to fitting the new engine in it was an absolute nightmare!
After many hours of "in out, in out, shake it all about" i noticed oil pi$$ing out of the driveshaft where the ABS drive belt is and where it goes into the gearbox, Why is this?
And what is the best way of getting the new engine in!
Please bear in mind i only have a crane and a couple of jacks which don't get the car high enough to get it in from bellow!
Please help me guys!

Sounds like a driveshaft has come out of the box. drain the oil from the gearbox and take it out mount it to the engine and drop the whole lot back in the bay as 1 unit

Have you take the shafts right out?? if you have thats why you got oil pissing out If you aint then you've probably pulled them out just enough so it leaks or the seal has gone

while you got the engine out get rid of the abs aswell as its crap and you can redo the brake lines with plenty of room. Also if you are going to be removing the driveshafts for any reason you may aswell fit new seals as there only few quid from ford and it saves messing later when they start leaking.

unless you want to redo all the brake lines you can just connect the master cylinder outlets to the two t pieces on the inner wing then use some of the abs tube to link out the abs outlets on the bottle,or if you have a 3i bottle just swap them and it saves linking out the two. then just take all the abs out and yes that includes the belts, thats what i did when i fitted my cossie brakes all round.oh but you need to connect the master cylinder outlets to the correct t piece,i will have a look at mine to see which one goes where as i cant remember off the top of me head.

the front outlet of the master cylinder must be connected to the nearside t-piece on the inner wing, and the rear outlet to the offside t-piece. then just take the bulb out of the back of the clock for the abs

jack up the open end of the box up a little to help you drop it in and leave it out of gear, then get the angle of the engine the same as the box and it'll slip in like a boost bar in my fat gob

ive done dozens, they are always a chore but usualy cos the box to engine is a cnut to wiggle together

undo the gearbox mounting nuts that hold the mounts to the cradle. just undo them and take them off, lower engine down into place, line it up and put together. if you still stuggle, then no offence but i dont think you should be taking an engine out mate.
you should only have to take the box out and put them both up together when space is an issue which with a cvh in a mk4 it really is not
