OBD2 is a standard for On Board Diagnostics. Basically all cars after around 1996 meet this standard for looging information in their ECU's and then they all have a port which OBD interrogators can request information through using the common OBD protocol. Any gauge that is OBD plug and play wil only fit cars with OBD ports. The omex ECU you have doesn't support OBD therefore you wouldn't be able to use an OBD interrogating gauge.

I wouldn't have said that you could hard wire it into the ECU Either as you need the data storage and protocol on the ECU in the first place, and I beleive the Omex uses a propriatery storage area and the RS232 protocol for interrogation.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I see it. What gauge you after bud?

That's pretty much it - i'm not aware of any aftermarket ECU to support OBD1/2.. (unfortunately).. It's a pretty advanced thing really for an ecu co. to implement with minimal gain for them i suppose..

You could technically get someone to create you an omex<>obd converter.. those plx gauges are niice..

Most of the Focus RS boys have Scangauge II's fitted!

Plugs in the OBD II port an does virtually the same as a SECS unit!

They are really kool. I like the way you can design the gauge too. Wouldn't mind one myself.

Sensors are a bit expensive though, considering you would be paying £100 for the gauge in the first place, £50 for a sensor is a bit steep.

But worth it if they work as well as they look
