I have a little problem. I am building an Rst efi engine. Problem is i lost the end cap of conrod nr 4. So what to do now? I cleaned the garage so i am sure that it isnt in the garage anymore. I think it isnt just taking and endcap from another piston and just bolt it on is it? Cos i have 4 std pistons on the shelf. But those are 3i pistons and not RSt ones

 

i think they are the same size. are you using new bigend bearings?

 

Yep all new. Problem is i did try to use a NR4 rod cap from a 3i engine but there is something diff inside. There is a little edge(or what the word is). And that cause a lockup of the crank. When i bolt it all together its just stuck in it. No movement at all.

 

Should only ever use the cap that was with the rod in the first place or you'll find a piston come flying through the block at some point!!
Best off just getting a new rod with cap!

you can never use another cap imo, because they get "broken" in there productions. So a other one will never be like te one you lost. I would use a new one... engine are not that cheap to take the risk haha

Well this one is a cheap built. Its just a test engine. so it can run untill the end of this year. And yes i know now that i cant use them but is an 3i rod the same? Can i use on of those or do i really need a RSt rod.

 

Any CVH 1600 complete rod will do you.
