Default Recirculating Dump Valve?

Just wondering if would be ok to fit a recirc dump valve to my S1 RST?

I'd imagine it would be ok? Just not heard anyone talk about it on here?

Cheers

why would you want to mate? in all honesty you won't need one until you start running GT30 size turbos with massive boost like around 2 bar.

The car will be running fair bit of boost, but not that much? ha

Just would like to put a dump valve of some sort, not keen of the noisy ones and don't want to blank it off. So it seems that the recirc is the way forward?

Absolutely no point. A DV does fuck all on these cars. The only benefit is the noise (if you like it). Absolutely no point fitting one to then not hear it.

Best bet save some pennies and spend it somewhere else on the car where it will have some benefit

he asks about recilculating DV, which dont make noise because air went in inlet mainfold , not in atmosphere.

you could probably do it by routing the DV back into the intake hose between the metering unit and the turbo. still think it'd be a waste of time and money though personally.

That was what i was thinking. I know that it may seem like a waste of money but a close friend of mine has the same set up running pretty much the same boost (a fair bit more than standard) and his turbo has just blown to bits. The company that rebuilt it has asked him did he have a DV or blanked it off? He had blanked it off and they said that would have help to the breaking of the turbo unit?

So to spend £80 on a dump valve to make me save £100's on a new turbo?

Thanks for all the advice though chaps

They are talking complete bollocks mate. Providing the turbo was a fairly normal Garrat, not T4 or larger or running 30psi of boost. This has been discussed on this very forum time and time again. Or was your mate trying to chuck a shed load of boost through an old standard turbo?

You do not need one, there is no benefit to having one recirculating or otherwise.

If you still want to go ahead and fit one of any type go ahead just don't be fooled into thinking it will offer any additional protection. In some cases it can cause the turbo to overspeed which is potentially damaging.

I didn't know about that, thanks.

Will have to re consider?

Cheers
