Either way, I imagine the non-CVH record will get raped soon with so many big Zetecs in the pipeline.

 

Oli's car runs a CTS stage 2+ box with quaife diff. (Although we have broken several this year!) We are still on std S2 ratios i.e. 3.82 final drive, and for the top speed run we ran on 16 inch wheels. This meant we had to rev to 7500rpm to achieve the 173.5mph top speed. As the engine cannot rev beyond this rpm for any sustained period, we will not be making any significant top speed improvement unless we change the final drive ratio.

We changed from the 1900cvh as it simply did not lend itself well to revving at 7500rpm! (Not to mention the old 1.9 engine was some 7 years old and was actually worn out)

Yep

 

building a zetec to achieve 200mph is not even an issue 720bhp will do it
keeping the car on the road thats the problem, the aerodyamics would need to be looked at i doubt weather a mk3/4 escort or mk3 fiesta could be made safe enough to do it... thats one of the reasons paul johnsons putting all is zetec gear into a puma..

how bout puttin a zetec head on a cvh block

if cvh head fits on zetec shorely they fit the other way round with a proper cvh asket

 

what sare the pro's and con's to doing this

 

 

common pros why can't we chuck a 16v head on a block designed for a 8v head??
if its because of oil flow and lack of oil galleries to the 16v head then i'm a fooking genious is that why or am i shooting blanks as usual

8v Bottom end with a 16v head would be a waste of time, surely?
