Default congratulations to me and my project !!!

ok vain i know but fook it

i got commisioned to fit a engine into a car for a customer and there was a twist to it

it was to fit a mfi erst engine to a efi fiesta turbo, he needed it doing quick too and so i had to source the vital efi bit and the 1.8 pully and its all done

thats where it got tricky, he was on a budget and wanted it doing the cheepest way poss

as im a person who likes a challenge i accepted it ( mad aint i )

anyway i got a 60k mile standard erst engine thats never been ragged and never been even chipped ( the car it came out of never had a alarm or a imobiliser )

so heres where i started , i removed the fly wheel and with a some advice and help by christian ( christian and beccy) i decided to see if the block could be drilled

it looked easy so the next step was to get a template, this it actually the chickey box my thinking food was in when i was deciding how to make a template out or metal, plastic ect , talk about think too much

then when i center punched the block ( and broke me center punch ) i managed to get this far

then i blut the bit so had to order a new one , never gonna drill ablock cheap for anyone else ever again

anyway with that done i had to sort the injector problem out

this was the really really scarey bit and i know im gonna get shot down for this saying ive fooked a head and the car wont work ect, need a pro and the redbull mechanics to do such a complex job

bollox, i got the dremel out and ground out the holes for the injectors , yes thats right i just ground out holes in a engien that i didnt own , but when i checked it against the location it was spot on , looked well done and also i got rid of tie bur marks too ( btw i plugged the holes, im not a total idiot )

so with all my "pro" modding done i set to work fitting the engine

now the camera i left at home the next day so no piccys so ill just say waht happened

when all was plumbed in i was worried about the cps and the car not starting or having a missfire due to me drilling the hole wrong of square shaped

but with the assitance of urban legend we decided to start the car and listen for missfires

pressed te remote start,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

car started first time

but was revving at 3500k on idle , we looked at it and kam explaimed the dipstick wasnt in adn so put that back in, i squeezed a few pipes and taped the rocker cover with a screw driver to see if that helped ( incase my no3 philips was also a magic wand paul daniels style )

we restarted the car, revs to 4500k again

ok we looked at all the niuts and bolts we touched and noticed i never put the 2 inside inlet manifold studs on , yeah i know school boy

lam decided to make fun of me and call me a idiot and said why my cossie is soo fucked ect due to me working on it

we then start the car again , at that time we discovered the car has no missfire at all !!!!!!!!!!, its not missfiring so the cps is done spot on

how did i know ya might be asking

its cause the cars now reving its pants off adn banging the rev limiter on idle , i call the customer and tell him the good news about the cps

anyway we look into it and then remove the inlet after some good advice from brom@zoo ( cheers for taking the time to help me )

i noticed that there was a air leak caused by the efo inlet gasket leaving a tiny gap in all 4 cylinders and that could be causing the air leak

i spoke to simon@SECS who adviced me to try a leakdown test if i had compressor and find out for sure if theres a leak , problem is i dont have a compressor , dont worry though as i had a another idea

get the missus hairdryer and clamp that to the crossover and see it theres any HOT air comming out of the inlet gaps , i sht you not, i made my own leakdown test kit from argos

its fooking worked too, i wa right it was leaking

i had to rethink a idea how to repair this problem and i managed a secret way to solve it that i will not tell anyone about but it i tried that after a few mods and guess what !!!

the car now starts and done rev its pants off and dont missfire

i made a efi engine froma mfi and it cost em a bit of labour, a hole cutter and a few dremel bits from halfords

i know prob no fooker cares but i very proud of this as it worked

also its a good excuse to say a thankyou to urban legend for allowing me to use his garage to convert the car

and to cowboi for taking out all the nuts and bolts i rounded off as your the tits at that

i should have took loads of pics but i just wanted the car working so im sorry

im gonna get a few of it all done and after its setup to show that a idiot like me can make a car work

might i also add that this i have only ever been shown how to remove a engine once by fletchcossie and the rest os all by advice i got over the years from rsoc and passionford members

now imo thats real diy, just dont try it at home kids

oh and wait for the next one, thats gonna make ya think a bit

gonna take load of piccys of that one though

FPMSL well done m8 Im tring to work out whot you used to stop the air leak tho But cant think of any HOUSE HOLD products that would do the jod yet

I know was it a home made gasket made out of a CORNFLAKE box From your breakfast
Or 2 Gaskets and a metal plate in the middle with the holes cut to the right size in it
My m8s old mad put the efi xr3i engine in his sons xr2 and had air leak on that so he did the above Worked aswell the car FLOW ater that (it had only done 6k on the efi engine for the rebuild) Mined you did sound like it had a turbo on ot @ times strange wisling noise

it fooking was cobalt hole cutter

i think i used too much presure and blunt it though

i did actually use a frosties box as part of my design , thats not a gasket though, theres bodging and there going too far

btw just had a text and hes driven to work with it

the thing i used to bodge it i jsut realised i never needed to make sure another leak was sorted , as the head dont have the breathing ports there

ahhh well, its done now and its spot on

just need the r/r results after i do a few more mods

cheers for the kind words, if it fooks up dont expect me to post about it but recomend using a efi addaptor plate

mate i never took the engine out by hanging the block on shoe laces

and it works !!!!!, everyone i knew said it would, i was the only one saying ive got the spare parts on order and a efi head if we really need to sort it

so far we BODGED a 4x4 cossie turbo on it, the engine in it, dal bodged a cossie cooler on it, its got a mk3 dash in the xr2 that dalk bodged in it

the only xr2 part of the car is the shell

its even had cossie brakes bodged onto it
