ditch the t3 for a t34

less wheelspin at the bottom and more power at the top

a maxed out t3 creates heat and if not controlled properly , higher act's , shit for power

Mine's still a 1.6....standard bottom end with flowed head/newman cam/ omex management etc, made 245bhp at the flywheel runnin 1.5 bar boost. So i'm assumin yours will make more depending on what boost you are gonna run....260 perhaps????

U reckon......what sort of power would u expect runnin 1.5 bar on a t3????? Only a relatively small turbo mind, don't think many people are gettin any more power than mine made with the same spec....soo many people out there boasting over inflated power figures for their spec lol! To be honest wouldn't wanna run much more than 1.5 bar through a t3, mine was specced to make 250bhp and did its job imo.....if you're wantin loads of power for little boost you're gonna need somethin alot bigger than a t3!!

Had 33psi through a t3 on my old S2 turbo, lasted 3 hours before it blew the head gasket out of the side of the block, but turbo was fine. lol

Crazycage: Fair play, that's bloody good power for a bar of boost!! Mine made 220 at 1 bar when we were mapping it, if yours makes 260bhp at 1 bar of boost on a t3 that'll be very impressive I take it you're runnin a fairly high c/r now then??? Mine's 8.2:1 atm, i was toyin with the idea of goin 9:1 on the next engine....seems to work for the jap boys don't it!! Be interesting to see the difference the manifold makes, was thinkin about one but not too sure on the gains i'd get??!!

ive got a stage 3 t3 and gotech, diff engine spec though. i reckon on jamsports rollers youll make 265bhp - 280bhp........depending on the boost itll be mapped for and also taking into account how good your head is, massive diff between the quality of one companies heads against others.

the tubular manifold and custom inlet, are they the jamsport items ????.

oh and what compression are you running ????.

all the best for friday

will the standard block handle the power mate, ive been told anything over 230 is dangerous for the bottom end on standard rods.

good point, are you running standard rods etc ????. also just for ref, turbo technics rate their stage 3 t3 turbo at 285bhp, but that might be running at full boost for which theirs is designed to run which is about 28psi.

dave.

if your only going to be running 14.5psi then youll be prob the lower limit of my estimate.........260 ish give or take i reckon. i would suggest you actually try being there for the power run though, that way youll know the graph your given was actually at the boost your cars at when you drive it away.

Blue fiesta 85: It's the rods that are the weak link really, i've got arp bolts but that's it really apart from all new bearings/ pistons etc. It's not ideal, gonna build another bottom end with steel rods for next year but to be honest it's been faultless so far....only done 4000 miles on it at present but they've bin hard miles lol....on track at silverstone and combe a few times, as well as santapod and the fastford shootout up brunters the other week! Wouldn't wanna run that power on mfi really, but it's bin mapped well and is holding up well so far....touch wood ha ha!

What rstdave is saying is right imo, mines mapped for about 2 bar but as it's still a std bottom end (and gearbox) it's turned down to 1.5 bar. I don't think it would take sustained thrash at a trackday at 2 bar
and i think that's about the limit of the turbo?

PF Nick's car was a standard bottom end and that went on for a good while with similar spec

Mines similar spec, L6 weber management, TT stage 3 t3, stage 3 head and old PE SX428 cam and did 243bhp at 1.5 bar
Also did 219bhp at similar boost (16psi)

consistent figures

8.5:1 is it...so a touch over standard then. Bearing in mind yours is a fair bit bigger capacity than mine it didn't exactly make loads more power at 1 bar of boost...be interesting to see what it makes this time!
Grey rs: Yeah that shows i'm not talkin bullshit figures then lol....sounds like our cars are very similar, good power for the spec imo

just a thought, but wouldnt it be less hastle for you to just change your exhaust housing to a cossy one, then itll let you use a cossy style downpipe, jamsport do the downpipes off the shelf i think ????.

yeah mate respect to ya for doing it all yaself , quite precise this though seeing as its going to control your wastegate ie making sure it seals tight when wastegate is closed, let us know how it goes mate.

where are you getting your flange from, i know ive seen on ebay elbows made of stainless steel including the flange which have the 5 bolt fitment, theyre not for internal wastegate but maybe you could modifiy it ????.

good luck bud.
