Default Who uses bleed valves?

Just wondering, as aabout 6 months ago i took my car to jamsport, they chipped it, -31 and put a bleed valve on, 16psi, 169bhp and 202 lpft. Standard everything else and been fine for 6 months.

I thought it was normal to use a bleed valve for stage one?

Just that i went on my local rsoc and someone told me that they shouldnt have used a bleed valve and there crap and i should chuck it in the bin. And then said i should use the correct things to get 16psi without a crappy bleed valve.

Then some else said jamsport did his rst van and got 15psi without bleed valve....

So first thing why did they use a bleed valve on mine and not his?

And second thing is what should have been used instead of a bleed valve?

you can do it either way with bleed valve or by trial and error with amal valve connected and adjusting actuator to get desired boost. but if you then upgrade to say a large front intercooler and want to up boost bleed valve is instant getting amal and actuator to right boost could take hours which you wouldn't want to pay for. there's nothing wrong with bleed valves so long as you LEAVE them alone once set up

Bleed valves are fine, as long as locked off with wire after setup, to stop fiddleing.

i use them on all mu cars if needed.

The amal valve was fitted to the cars from the factory as a electronic bleed valve to prevent over boost, so if your running above standard boost its no good really, also a bleed valve is fine if its left untouched, its when you get juvenile planks winding it out to race their mate, you get what i mean.

Why is that?

As above really, only really needed to bypass the anal valve

Just makes the whole setup process easier and saves you money

Tell your mate tp shut up if he does not, slap him with a wet trout!

Cheers

Agree with the other comments: if it's set up correctly and not fiddled with then there's no problems having a bleed valve fitted.

Ive had one on mine for 5 years without any hassle apart from when some fool decided to give me an extra 5 psi at one of the shows

Get it set and leave it alone, do that and you wont have any troubles.

Thats why i lock mine and other i set up with locking wire.

But people can still play around with other boost controll systems, by removing the boost/vac pipe.

The only issue that is more often than not overlooked with fitting bleed valves onto RST's is that you should only ever use a 3 port bleed valve if you still run MFI.

Other than that as everyone has said, it is perfectly acceptable and safe
