Default ignition relay

I had the same problem with my rs turbo the other day mate. Went into a petrol garage and turned it off then when i tried to re-start it there was just nuthin! The problem was one of the ignition relays which is under the bit of plastic under the steering wheel (dont no what to call it). try taking it of and check all the connections under there! i gave a few of them a move around and it was back to normal! Worth a go mate!

sounds possible that its an immobilizer problem!?

i know RST dave off here had an issue, as some immobilize the fuel pump,
and all the ancilleries, so dash lights indicators ETC

No ignition relays under the dash on a ERST, im guessing you have an FRST?

That does sound like an alarm issue as said above......usually you would lose a whole load of things, you appaear only to of lost circuits that are commonly in the immobilistaion circuits.
