Would have anything to do with the ECU possibly retarding timing due to a possible problem ?

some times its the fitting, and sometimes its luck of the draw,

either poor item, cam or follower, or fault in oil flow or valve issue.

i've had 5 Kents in my Cvh's.

A 35 lasted over 30k miles, and still fine,
A 35, and a 34 fucked them selves after 2-4k miles,
A 22 one was fine, but cant remember the milage,
and i fitted a 35 about 4 weeks ago.
