ive already posted on here about my oil leak so most of u might know what im on about. But ive been told now its the crank shaft oil seal thats leaking. Ive also been told that this can make the clutch slip, is this true? this could explain why my clutch slips when im only running about 10-12psi.

Would think that if the oil leaks out of the crank onto the back of the fly wheel, and gets onto the clutch plate it will slip.

Yes if the gearbox side crankseal leaks enough and contaminates the clutch it will slip. And you'll need a new clutch as there scrap after they've been contaminated.

Doh!! You might get away with just a new thrust plate as long as the pressure plate is OK and the bearing is fine. It's not that bad a job to do as lnog as you not got ABS.

Hi, if the crank shaft seal leaks, and you are unlucky, and oil gets around the flywheel and in to the drive plate your clutch will slip,
but as the fly wheel tends to through the oil clear of the cultch. I have had the same problem whit oil leaking from the crankshaft seal (fly wheel end) the leak was not that bad so I left it? In the end the clutch started to slip so I removed the engine to replace the clutch.
On inspection of the gearbox I found that the input shaft oil seal had gone
And had let gearbox oil get in to the clutch
So what started out as a simple clutch and oil seal replacement turned in to a gearbox rebuild as well
I hope for your sake it's only the crankshaft oil seal
Good luck
Steve
