mtx gearbox conversion
has anyone done this and got any feed back etc
where they had the drive shafts made and prices etc
i know one person who has done it but the welds on the driveshafts keep snapping so i dont really want to carry out the conversion if i have to keep welding up the drive shafts

Can see where this is going
But tuning aside, i have heard Jano's MTX conversion kits are good, but from what i'm told its a bit pricey.
Just what ive heard on the grapevine though, so not set in stone

i know this isn't about fueling but i just wanted to say that i found out that my engines weren't underfueled because i was told today that thay both went due to being badly put together from the start.
so this had nothing to do with jano at all
really sorry if i have miss lead anyone

i have also fitted t34 and full 3 inch zorst and jamsport 3 inch downpipe that bolts to 63 exhaust housing,so hopefully see some gains with these bits and bobs.thats why its goin ti take full day at ava to be remapped.
but even driving car at moment car feels much more stable, tighter and i would say better all round,no torque steer at all,is only 10 psi though,so wee have to wait and see.
will post few pics if anyone want to see.

it it just a case of angle grinding a slice and tapping it all down or do you have to cut out a big chunk do you have any pics or the bits that have to be cut before and after and what where the drive shafts made from and where where they welded etc

i made shafts myself ,apart from the intermedite fixed shaft,i had to make bracket to hold bearing to zetec block,as no off the shelf items fit, wasnt to hard though, both outer shafts are exactl same size, took lot time and machining, but they are 36mm thick and tig welded then balanced.

Not trying to hyjack the thread, but for peoples referance who want to fit the Getrag six speed from the ST170.
List of mods are:
Bolt in the whole gear lever assy including cables and cut a hole in the bulk head for cables - easy
Fabricate an inner wing gearbox mount - med
Fabricate a lower torque reaction mount in the middle of passenger footwell (approx) - harder
Shorten outer driveshafts and change hub spline for what hubs been run, sleave or get spec ones made - hard
Bellhousing bolts straight on if using the 2 piece Zetec sump - easy
Modify the flywheel to correct thickness as gearbox bellhousing and input shaft position was desinged for a thick double mass flywheel - med
Convert to hydraulic release bearing (no provision in bellhouse for mechanicl release bearing) - hard
Speedo drive - ?
Reverse lights - easy
Simon.
ps. looking forward to rolling road day in July.
