Today when i start my car, the starter motor keeps turning over even though my car is running.
Even if I take the keys fully out it will still turn over for a few seconds
I've taken the black cap off at the end of the barrell and it looks fine/clicks in all the right places ect, i've given it a blast with the trusty WD40 too but it still does it.
Could it be the starter at fault? I was thinking not as it still turns over for a few seconds when i take the keys out.
Does DazC still come on here? He would know

It's the solenoid sticking in the Starter.
When u move it to the "start" position on the key, it moves a solenoid which turns "ON" the current to the starter - which is directly connected to the battery. They physically move - they are like a plunger. They can stick when they get old. So, when u take the keys out, it doesn't move back as it should, and the starter keeps on turning.
New starter would solve it. Or get Paul to strip/clean the solenoid.
