5w 40 fully synthetic oil be ok for the S1 ? Car running 14psi and around 180 bhp. A mate can get it at work for a VERY good price that's all and my oil is due for a change but if it's no good then it's no good. It's Millers, is it any good ? cheeRS

been told its the best oil for mine, i put 5w 40 in mine no probs

although there are many different oils so be carefull, but millers are good overall

I personally would have thought it was too thin. I have been told to use 10W 50 silkolene by oilman on this site.

Its what I use in my S1 running 210bhp... and our lasses st170 and i give them both some hammer and ive never had any probs.

I personally wouldn't use it mate, but your choice.

I've used it in my s1 running 18psi and its my wkend toy so it gets proper nailed everytime i drive it and its never battered an eyelid... run it for 8000 miles

A CVH engine isn't going to like that very much fella!" Alot of highly rated tuners have said to me to change the oil every 3-4k as the CVH engine is prone to getting gunked up. I change mine every 3k and use 10W 50 silkolene.

The oil you are using does not offer the protection required especially if you are nailing it. It may well have not caused a problem yet, but you will significantly reduce the life span of your engine.

Oil isn't expensive and is simple to do yourself so why skimp on it....? no point spending a load of money on your engine making the car faster if your just going to chuck the wrong oil in.

The CVH engine is 20 odd year old. Tolerances in modern engine construction is far finer than it used to be and they can therefore run thiner oils. If you look at engines 30+ years old, many were designed to run 20W ....?

Speak to 'Oilman' on this site and explain the spec of your engine, your type of driving style etc and he will recommend an oil suitable for you!"

OBVIOUSLY YOU COULD GO TO ASDA'S AND BUY SOME MAZOLA COS THATS CHEAP AS WELL.....
DON'T BE A WINKLE PUT SOME PROPER OIL IN IT/MOBIL ONE MOTORSPORT OR CASTROL RS W5 IS FAR TOO THIN.

JUST TO BE CLEAR GUY'S I WASN'T DISSING MILLERS PRODUCTS. I'M SURE THEIR CFS 10/60 AND CFS 15/60 ARE WELL WORTH A LOOK.
WE USE THEIR 'DIESEL CLEAN' BY THE LORRY LOAD IN OUR MERCS AND BM'S AND IT'S THE DOGS!

Sorry, misunderstood you lol. There is nothing wrong with the brand of oil as far as I know. However, I would recommend you change the grade of the oil you are using. Especially if you like to use your car as it was designed I would think something which goes up to 50. The oil you are using will be struggling at the temps you are putting it under and will not be lubricating sufficiently. I would go for 10W 50!"
