Default S1/S2 downpipes

Jus went to fit a mongoose exhaust and it seems the downpipe is hitting off the subframe and wont go far enough to line up with the turbo elbow are S1 and S2 downpipes different?

Just thot actually, the back end of the exhaust was on the ground, so maybe it had to be hooked on before it would clear the subframe?

Does a proper S1 exhaust go over the rear wishbone?

I haven't a clue what hes talking about

And its only OE exhausts that run through the wishbone, anything uprated is the same as any other escort.

The arms off the boxes are part of the mounts, and then theres the anti roll bar kidney plates as people call them.

generally a subframe is a whole frame that bolts to car and holds the engine

I still can't get my head around what you were struggling with though lol

well it basically is a form of subframe so get it roon ye

anyway

the downpipe was hitting off the corner of the "kidney plate" as you call it, and thus wasnt allowing it to go forward enough to mate up with the turbo elbow!

problem = exhaust wasnt up on the mounts at the rear, as had it all in one piece under the car, so it was somehow stopping it from coming onto the turbo elbow at that angle, rectified by mounting the rubbers at the back - that help ure small brain

I'd say 26 minutes maximum judging by the post times, not as long as your 2hrs and 35 mins for that 'attempt'
