xr3i replica!!!!*******
ive decided for deffo im getting a 1.3/1.4 3dr prefered in the correct colours white, red, black, grey on a three door but if nothing turns up i will be getting a 1.4 3dr if not the correct colours in that section i will be getting a 5dr in grey or black or red etc
im wanting to get a pretty box standard 1.3/1.4 3dr if poss but a 5dr is just as good as everbody knows they never ever made a 5dr xr3i so theres not too much attention
im wanting to fit the bumpers and wheels and spoiler and the interior if its a 3dr ARE THE FLOORPANS ALL THE SAME IN EVERY MODEL OF MK4 ESCORT?
if its a 5dr i would like to do the rest bumpers etc but the interior will have to stay as the xr3i interior wont fit as well different cards
but if i get a 3dr i would like the recaro grey with the red squares and the door cards and rear seats but the normal xr3i grey with the red squares
if its a 5 door i would like it to resemble something of an xr3i
but dont worry i will be having a cat 1 cobra alarm fitted and 2 yes 2 diferent sets of locking nuts on it
im going to do the extra 2 weeks on my test to get the extra 5% off
and the 2% off for the alarm and another 10% family discount coz my mum works at norwich union and manger director of marine underwritting
i will get a basic type 1.3/1,4 for insurance as it may still be expensive and just strip its interior and look for rot and the under side too and anywhere else i dont want to cut and weld a lot
i would want to fit a rear soiler and the janspeed rear back box for the fist year oh and the cat 1 alarm and the interior as this dosent affect the insurance as f its got a full interior they cant say anything
after a year i would fit the xr3i wheels and bumpers

Grey Mk4 Early XR3I
ok mate all 3 door mk 4's have the exact same floor pans (pretty much identicle shells im lead to belive) i think the main differnce is some 1.3's dont have sun roofs ect
the recaros you on about are the 88 spec mate
xr3i bumpers are the same as rs turbos (2 styles and one rare extension lip) the bumpers are pretty cheap and easy to get off ebay ect
check all the archs for rot and also the battery tray and fuse box the wheel well in the boot is also a common place for rot but this is pretty easy to sort given the right tools
hope this helps mate

i think you over estiamte the cost of your insuranc,
for my 1.6 16v fiesta, as a 17 year old and its my first car, i got a quote of 1200, ive since fited, 16" alloys, full rs turbo arch kit, turbo bonnet, escort rs turbo front breaks, mongoose exaust, mk4 dash set up, k and n
and it took it up to about 1400, and 50 quid of that was an admition fee

what is your maximum for insurance ur willing to spend because i had mine for 1600 on my dad and it was a convertible (my old xr3i) and that was yrs ago and the convertibles are more on insurance, norwich union tend to be the most expencive insurance company around and wont let alot of young drivers get things like xr3i's etc, as stated before mate shop around, fone a few performance companies like in the back of performance ford or fast ford. Hope this helps ya
