Im thinking of getting gotech for my s2 from jamsport and im just wondering what are the advantages of it?

It's a mappable EFI system. It's going to be loads better for drivability, starting, on boost fueling control etc etc...

The mfi gets binned mate and gets replaced.

jam-sport have got a special offer on this its £850 + vat fitted i was just on the fone to jamie about it. much better than a old used cossie managment set up.

Out of interest why is it better? Im not saying gotech isnt good as I have never used or seen a car with it on. Just wondered really as I have had a car with cossie mangement and building another at the moment. You dont have to make it with used parts as all sensors are available new, admittidly ecus may not be but they dont give trouble anyway. Even looms are available from people on here.

no you still retain the std distributor. im thinking about fitting one of these to my car from jamie ( jam-sport ). my plan was to go for a cossie weber-marelli conversion but the high cost & unreliability of using secondhand ecu's etc put me off, as ive found out not all senors for the cossie set up are available from ford ( brand new ) & to top it off gotech as all the features of some of the top-level ecu's & again sensibly priced

there is a gotech system called the mfi pro and that uses a coil pack

Not very familiar with the Gotech. How usable is the tuning software? Does it support autotune? Is it fully sequential with COP ignition etc.? How about advanced features like cool-down idle, anti-lag, flat-shift, traction control, launch control, auto-box control?

Just interested generally, not that those would be needed in a RST...

ive had cossie management before most if not all parts are used as is the sensors which in time fail ive got no time looking around for replacment parts, the last ones are fucking ten years old now how reliable can these be? & the price for cossie managements a joke i remember paying over a grand a few years back + fitting & mapping. the gotech is the best part of 1200 quid fitted & mapped, jam-sport have got a offer on 850+vat fitted & mapped brand new & comes with a warranty cant be bad can it??

But all cossie sensors are available brand new still its only ecu's that arent. Admittedly its more expensive to start with but think how many millions went into developing that and is used on a lot of top name cars such as ferrari so cant be that bad.

As allready stated all the senors are available new, not to forget that the tuners I have spoken to who provide cossie management conversions provide a warranty also.
Personally speaking if price was a major concern I would be using EFI simply as my vehicle would not be pushing enough power to warrant using 'alternative' management due to costs.
I was just curious if you was aware of any 'technical advantages' to using gotech management over cossie other than it possibly being cheaper

as ive stated before ive no time looking around for new parts, when my old ones fuck up. i mean you paying over a grand you should atleast get new sensors if you saying they still available in my case i had old ones the ford dealers my end dont stock anything rs no more, tbh your best bets to call jamie ( jam-sport ) 01604 755529 & ask what the ins & outs are with the gotech he knows this management better than anyone else.
a lot of people ive spoken to have said the cossie set up is getting a bit old newer things are available which are more reliable better to play with cheaper just thought id give it a go over the tryed & tested ive had cossie management before so itll be good to see which one is better for the rs turbo, in the long run

I have been running Gotech for six months now.
It is the most cost effective solution to EFI that I have found.
I most like its logging facility combined with my wide band lambda.

Cant fault it.

Sorry to jump in but I'm very interested in this conversion now!

Will there be any power gains?? so its more economical when you drive it like a granny, very reliable compared to the standard mfi. Do you get a choice of which injectors to start off with or are they the same as every one gets untill you want to upgrade?

How much bhp will the injectors flow?

no need for 5th injectors then?

And 750 ni and out job??

how long will the car be in the garage??

so that 750 doesn't include the efi plate conversion or injectors so its another 420 + vat on to the 750.

Anything else or is that the only hidden extras

you have to get your own injectors,your paying for fitting suoolying and the mapping hope this helps

Gotech mfi s/f/m 750
then i needed
injectors
lamba mob to exaust ( Optional extra)
lamba Sensor
inlet manifold mod
new air filter

both high and low impedience injectors are fine.

What are the benifits of having the lamba sensor installed? I have the Gotech MFI on mine, been great.

Not only can you still buy cossie sensors, but you do not even need to use them im using zetec sensors on my cossie management, I also got a new braided loom when mine was fitted.

It makes me laugh when people state that my cossie ecu is old when the new ecu they are buying is still ending up in a car which is 20 years old what I fail to understand however is if age of components are important you are relying on a 20 year old distributor with moving parts that wear as part of your ignition system. My ecu which you stated was old has no moving parts to wear and uses coil pack for a more effective spark

If you commenting on management at least present all the facts, Gotech can be mapped by very few professional tuners in the UK as such if you require a remap, getting your car to them could be an issue.. How many mappers can you name?
Cossie management can be mapped by Amhed, MSD, Norris, EA, PE, Reyland to name but a few, need me to name more ?
The cossie ECU has been proven through the years and currently powers the fastest and the second fastest escorts in the UK which proves how capable it is, not on paper, not in a forum, where it matters on the car

This person should review all management systems and decide what is right for them, what ever is said a ECU is only as capable as the mapper.

Best advise to give someone is find a mapper you like and trust and use what they recommend and are experienced with no matter if that is Megasquit, Gotech, DTA, Cossie or anything else.
