Default Gearbox Problem

Hi guys,

Ive got a problem with my gearbox. It dosnt go into gear, when im doing 80mph in 5th and i try downshifting to 4 it just wont go into gear.

Also wen i try getting into 3rd it will only go in gear wen i start braking to 30mph. and the same with if i wanna downshift to 2nd, it will only let me get into gear about 20mph.

Is it time for a new gearbox? im running about 200bhp.

cheers.

Sounds like your synchros are fucked.

Incorrect oil grade can give similar problems but im guessing its been fine all the while before yea?

Does it work, if you match revs when downshifting?

Unless you know what you are doing yourself its not worth stripping it, get a recon one on exchange or something like that

Change down before the corner and drive through it or you will crash! Teach yourself heel and toe mate, I use it in my estate to great effect

I was joking mate. Heel and toe is one of the more experienced techniques and you are quite likely to crash if you try it on the public highway. It will also take a bit of explaining to plod when they ask how you got your car stuck 15ft up in a tree
