I think the main problem with them lies in the fact THEY ARE SHIT INSIDE, a bit on the limit in terms of current rating, and once the pumps start to wear they tend to burn out. My cabriolet munched one up in a couple of thousand miles, i could smell burning for ages until i decided the smell was the car rather than outside, caught it just in time i think

I've never taken one out of a car that hasn't showed signs of overheating either...

come on Andy, you should be able to get clever with a soldering iron ans stop the current burning the tracks out,i nearly set mine on fire in my mates cab then i went over mine with solder and a few bits of copper and its been swwwweeeeeet ever since, copes with the current draw no problem

Firstly.........Me..........and Clever............a rarity to see both words in the same sentence

Its not the tracks burning out......its the fact of having that one tiny little pin flowing 16A to the spade connector. If i wasn't going over to EFI i would wire it up with a 30A relay.

I'd be more inclined to say it was the driver that was "special", not the car
