Chassis rails
is it possible to replace the rear chassis rails?as my rear right chassis rails has had a rite dog of a repair done on it!
it looks like they've just plated over rust which has then got worse and worse and now i think a whole section could do with replacing...what is involved and isit usualy expensive?
when i strippped my S2 i thought it just wanted tiding up i never realised that id have so much work to do....should be worth it though when ive got a mint, rust free S2!

Not sure if new ones can be bought or they have to be fabricated...
Your probably best off speaking to some people that have restored them in the resto/project section mate
There was a company a couple of years back called Hayden Panels or something like that who were doing stuff for Mk3/4 Escorts, try a search on google for them

Lots of panel factors do them, they make a reasonable repair although when u take ur old one off you will see they are three skins thick and the repair panel is only single skin. So some strength will be lost.

weld on some skins before fitment seams to be the order, and if they are hollow, weld in some webbing, and just to be totally anal, measure them up for a brace,to run under the car,get it bent around the wheel well, and weld it on for more antiroll stregnth.
