Default Problem with distributor / ignition

Hey guys,

actually I have a problem installing the distributor on my cosworth engine.

When I first installed it like it is told in the Cosworth manual, I wasn't able to start the engine.
I tried to fire it up and when the engine stops, it turned for a second in the wrong direction.

This is usually a sign that there is a problem with the ignition.

So I tried to turn the distributor clockwise and it went better and better.

But in my opinion, there is something wrong.

I took some pics of my installation:

Crank wheel/ 1. cylinder is TDC

Cam wheels are pointing together

firing order is clockwise 1-3-4-2

As you can see, the rotor doesn't align with the marking on the housing...
BUT... the idle speed is good and also the acceleration...

I am running a P8 Ecu with a program which i don't know and yellow Bosch injectors.
I guess the engine has about 280 hp...

What is your opinion? Please help...

Thanx alot...

When you installed the distributor, did you line up the marks, then move if afterwards, is that what you're saying? I'm not 100% certain on youre issue, but what you have shown regarding the distributor is NOT right, it needs to be aligned.

That's what I mean rog, when I allign it to the mark, it is impossible to run the engine.
Only like the above pic, when the rotor is before the marking, the engine runs good...

That's my strange problem....
