Default Autronic rev counter

Hi to all, my mate just converted his Escort Cosworth to Autronic Ecu and wasted spark but is having problems with the original rev counter. It either revs slowly or twice it's actually reving. Any one can help please?
Thanks

Possibly the wiring is a bit dodgy?

My other friend converted his escort to Autronic before and used the tacho adapter with no results! But we'll try our own if you say so! Thanks for the help

If it's a simple square wave convertor you need, there are others that do the job, I fitted one to mine, as tacho did not work with new emerald ecu, cost me £30, and a emerald part, so all easy, that was because I went from std coil to coilpack so needed a square wave signal.

the std escos rev counter wont accept a basic square wave input, it needs a colappsing field back emf which peak to peak is much higher voltage than teh square wave
