my mate had one, he fitted a bigger
motor, uprated the diffs and this and that, was quite nippy
now i'm thinking of gettting one, i seem to recall a BASTOS
one does anyone know if the cd from tamiya with all the decals on,
has a bastos decal set, seems all the ones i have seen for sale are incomplete or are busted, i just want a complete one and then
get a new shell and do it like the car in my sig

I can only remember Tamiya officially releasing 3 versions of the whale tale Escort Cosworth,

Tiger stiped ( Blue and White )
Michelin Pilot ( Yellow and Blue )
Repsol ( Orange and White )

I do recal seeing a Bastos Escort Cosworth, but I think it was painted up by an individual for a Tamiya Eurocup race event back in the mid 90s.

The whale tale Escorts are quite rare now. There are a couple of new ones floating around in Japan and in America, but they are over a £100 plus shipping costs. The 1998 WRC Escort is still floating around in the shops, but has lost some of its charactor with different bumpers and no whale tale.

i have a pilot one (its 15 years old now) has some custom leccy motor (can't remember which one) ball raced bearings throughout and special speed controller








i've never seen or heard of a BASTOS one - must've been a shell custom painted, or might have been a non tamiya shell and stickers.

i've been bidding on broken ones for spares as most are unavailable new now.

 

I have all four of the Esc Cos's

Respol, Michelin and WRC are still new in the box unmade

but I have the Tiger stripe freshly made

if only they stay that way after use.

mines had hundreds of hours of hard use - thats its second shell and is a static model now - use it from time to time though.

i saw a tamiya cd with liverys from the escort cosworths of the time
so you could copy the decals, tbh i liked malcolm wilsons pilot car,
but if i get a tamiya its got to be a bastos one.
it had other decals for other tamiyas too
