It used to cruise about in the yorkshire area! Had a big light pod on the bonnet and wasnt nice on the body!
Was re shelled a while back using a 3i shell as Max has pointed out!, but i dont know the reasons why?? Think the car lived in Keithley West yorks?
Only good thing about the car was the Azev's!
Hope your mate know's it's been reshelled or he aint gunna be happy!

This is the aubergine one that was for sale at Keighley Trade Centre is it not? Was for sale on ebay a while back aswell if I remember correctly! Yeah I went to have a look at this in the flesh myself and sure enough it had little rubber grommits in various places on the bonnet where the lamp pod had been

It wouldn't have used a XR3i shell it would have used a XR3i's id the shells are nothing alike. Its obviously a reshell or motorsport built up but depends what price he paid any more then 8K he was bent over IMO

Trouble is i think the engine has had it, smoking and rattling, so not sure that the time and effort to break it would be worth it...i think he has 5k put aside for an engine, but i agree, not worth keeping really..

I dont really understand all this using different ID's etc. What does it actually involve, surely its not just a case of welding in the chassis numbers from the xr3i log book and using the same reg number?? Is all that legal, surely not as technically, as said above, that would make it a ringer right??

traders have a responsibility and cannot sell a car sold as seen and say they didn't realise it was a ringer, get your mate to take it back saying he knows nothing about cossies and thought all the shells were the same xr3/ cosworth etc and since he bought it has been advised differently and i'm sure under the consumer credit act or something, he'll be able to get his money back

a escort cosworth on a xr3i logbook,is gotta be a bit iffy,i have noticed
numerous times logbooks and chassis plates for sale,
eventually some poor git,is going to get their car whizzed and its
going to get rung using those id's

Hi mate, one of the lads was looking at this before, i seen it on E bay and the Auto traders advert for KTS. its a late escos shell aswell as its Aubergine and has later fuel filler, mirrors ect, which you dont get on a K reg early one, Didn't know it was on a XR3I book mate what a nightmare. hope he gets sorted and his money back.

IMO thats a stolen car with an XR ID ... once plod catch up with it, they will have that stripped quicker than you can say "but I have a reciept"...
If they cant prove its nicked the car will be put on a Q plate...
"Disclaimer"... this may or may not be Damo V actually using this login

Well, its all rather strange this one, dash doesn't fit properly, been cut to allow centre arm rest, its just generally very untidy, not on the mechanical front more so inside with ECU just laying on the floor, half the bulbs missing or not working, wires for alarms here there and everywhere, he is having Mr Shead build him a new engine so it should go well, he isn't too bothered that it has 3i on the log book as its just a toy, but i know i wouldnt be happy with that...i'll grab some pictures Saturday

looks like hes just bought into a whole heap of shit there matey... wouldnt touch it with a barge pole (baseball bat + insurance claim perhaps)
but either way it'll be worth it with decent engine build for a toy, and as the lads pointed it it looks the part from a distance, only til us sad bastards start picking at it

The problem is you can't reshell a cosworth into an xr3i
So I guess its just had the plates swopped over? The next question is, where did all the parts come from and the original vehicle?
I wouldn't want to put any money into this, as the man before said. If he gets pulled over by the old bill they will pull it to pieces. If they do impound it you can't just say "oh by the way can I have the £4k engine I just put in it back" At best it would end up on a Q Plate
Best to just use the shell off on the road and on the track!

I actually considered having a look at this a while ago when it was in autotrader and called about it.....
Sounds iffy, why would you bother reshelling a car and putting it on XR£i id just to lose money? Then there's insurance........

Still the saga goes on....
My mate still hasnt driven this car due to work but we were checking it over last night, chassis number on the log book is the same as the one on the car, no signs of any repair or cover ups, it states Ash black on the vin plate when the car is Aubergine, again no real signs of being tampered with, but someone said it had been at KTS on a Q plate and now its on a K plate, totally confused but i think he is writing to KTS about it to see if they can shed any light,, are they a bit dodgy up there then ringing cars ?
