"Mapper" (How has he mapped an ecu with no car?) has given you the wrong chip mate, send it back.
ALL P8's can run the fuel pump no problem, and if your supplier doesnt know how to enable it, he probably doesnt know anything about the map on the chip either.

now that DOES sound like either the phase sensor or TDC sensor, if the phase sensor i may sound like it hydraulic locks , if the tdc, it wont spark but may when u turn the ignition on and if u've been cranking and try again, u get a fookin HUGE bang of of the back

m8, send the shit back and get your original chip installed again. what you are doing is a waste of money and most likely a damaged engine soon.
go to someone that knows ford cosworth and live mapps the car on a dyno(Stu in my humble opinion....) thats the way to go

what do you mean send it back its working just needs sorting out ie the pectel is better then the l8 as it can run all the thing iwanting to run ie coil pac antilag air to air etc etc also when the cars runing it so much beter everyone said what a dirrance its made however as you said it better to get it to the boys for the set up and map this hole set up has cost me over 2k so icant really send it back????iwas thinking giving stu a ring tomoz and ask him a few questions????
ithinks its all down to the TPS as my sces moniter saying 13% throttle on idle also leading back to the phase sensor, has anyone else got any tips as iwant her runing near right as everyone so far away as im in cornwall dose anyone know of a good tuner down this way????thanks for the post

A L8 car can have a P8 plugged directly into it and it WILL run, perfectly. They are pin perfect identical and use EXACTLY teh same sensors.
If it does not run after plugging in the P8 you either have a bad ecu or bad software. The only difference a rally car would possibly have is the fuel pump activation negative trigger missing as some other functoins were often used on this pin, but your mapper could have simply switched this line back on if he knew the P8 properly. Removing the fuel activation trigger is not a great thing to do on a road car IMO.
What have you paid over Ł2k for exactly?

After reading this sounds like a superb bargin you got there
NOT!
If you gonna start fuking about with sending ya ecu to get mapped without being on ya car WTF!
You should MA Developments there probs your closest decent known tuners

m8,
even if you dont want to beleive anyone....450 pounds for a "custom" chip thats not even mapped on your engine is rediculous. On top of that, if already you pay such an exorbitant amout for a "modem dealer chip" then let them sort their shit out if it doesnt work properly....or, as i said, SEND IT BACK !!
If it was running all so well, then why this thread ? I know its hard to admit when you get pulled over the table, but at the end of the day you want a working and performing engine, no ?
Having done lots of mapping in the past, my experience is that fixing another mappers eprom is never thankful and i keep my fingers well off that. also sometimes "security boards" are used to protect the custom mapping from other mapers, if thats the case then happy reverse engineering........
Bottom line : Either customer comes with original ECU to be live mapped or nada.....i think Stu might see it the same way......
cheers,
michael
