My Mk1 Escort Cosworth
After saying good bye to my old saph I decided a proper project was on the cards!

The car is a 1969 1100 Super, originally in white.
I bought the car as an incomplete project from Yodi on here, when I got it, the outside had been painted, large gearbox tunnel fitted and round turrets had been fitted to the rear.
Here are some pics of when I got it:

The first thing to do was strips it all back down to sort the interior and the underside. I was not a big fan of the black hammerite style interior and also some sound-deadening etc needed to be removed. At the same time I cut the transmission tunnel for the selector box.

Much scraping and some wire wheel work and the underneath is getting there:

Along with the loom put in (and fuel rail, greys, 3 bar etc):

A quick trip up to RACE this morning has left with some serious work to do!!

(There is a extra wide clubman style 4 link kit, large diff tunnel and extra high cross brace)
And that bring us pretty much up to date apaprt from i'm half way through fitting the larger diff tunnel (but the angle grinder has given up the ghost!)

Very light and very fast
Seriously though, its going to have a high specced Atlas axle (ZF diff etc) and a punchy engine to match (std. compression with a .63 t34 running big boost for low lag) at hopefully around 400bhp or there-abouts.
It will be well under 1000kg, running everything as light as possible (down to perspex windows etc) on some road legal slicks!
Should be fun when/if it ever gets finished

Paul, not sorted the rest of the stickers yet, decided to do them last, I will let you know when I need them
Dandan, the best way I found for the underseal was a blowtorch and wallpaper scraper, this got the bulk of it off and what it didn't get off it loosened it up / made it brittle, so that a quick skim over with an grinder with a wire wheel attachment took the rest off a treat! If you don't do the blowtorch part, I found it to be a right pain just with the angle grinder, and you get tar stuck to everything!!!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!

Phil,
if you want the exact GULF stickers made again my mate that made them for me has them saved so he can cut exactly the same ones again if that helps.

Brian, yes it is, although i'm not sure if I am going to keep it (currently have one eye open for a fuel cell and the other eye open for a shaped alloy tank from RACE)
Here is how it is mounted, feels more secure than it looks!

Not really been able to do much on it this weekend - took the last grinder back and started with another one and broke that too.. so back for number 5 in a month or so! You should see the collection of cutting discs I have now
Tidied up the diff tunnel fitting ready for welding, managed to solve all the prevoius fitting issues - just needed to be a bit more cutter happy on the floor pan! Anyway, its pretty much ready for welding now, but that will have to wait until after TOTB..
These pictures are really just me playing with my new camera (Canon EOS 300d digital SLR
) It's amazing how much more useful a wider angle lens is for car photos! no longer have to stand half a mile down the road to fit the whole car in!

And the fuel tank for BrianB

I will let you know first what I do with it, need to find some prices on the fuel cells really!
