Hello guys im needing some help,

I have a 1989 S2 escort engine in my fiesta, Its in the garage just now,
they are trying to fix the sump gasket, But when the bolt the sump on, the gasket keeps pushing its way out, Are there many different types of sump gaskets? Has anyone had this problem before? Im most certain its a 1989 engine.


All the help i can get will be great!!!

dont do it up to tight, if not it will push out, the only two types are the 2 piece sump gasket early engines or the 1 piece later engines, 89 will be later,

i used a piece of mig wire wrapped through the gasket and through the block, then just push the sump in place and do a few bolts up then just snip the wire out

can be a tricky job though

 

Also you can use evo stick on the sump and then the gasket ,let them tack off then place the gasket in postion on the sump and then bolt up (rubber one peice type)this way the gasket cant move on the sump and is in the correct position ,worked on mine ,hope this helps
