Can't blame them to be honest!
When you take out car insurance you are asked to tell them about any convictions etc...so they can access what degree of risk you may be and nobody complains about disclosing that! Same with home insurance you could have been done for insurance fraud etc...and therefore represent a high degree of risk to them as insurers!

Sorry Apples but I agree with Spadge, they are just assesing the risk, I think you will find nearly all insurance companies do this (certainly the good ones), they are in the game to make money and rightly or wrongly this is info that they require, you have to tell them, they aren't judging you as a person just a risk.
You will find there will be good reasons for them asking (dont ask me cos I dont know), have a ring around and I think you will find it's the same most places.
And one more thing, please dont consider 'not telling them' about any possible convictions cos if they find out during a claim they can void your policy

Mate,

Not all insurers are like that, plus with a broker in the equation they will get stuck in to help.

We do!

just saying as my first years insurance i was told i could change the policy at any time, was wrong i would have to cancel and restart it, was told that wen i turned 25 i was insured to drive any car, i was lied to again, dont count if i started the policy when 24, pointless selling point of a lie to get my policy and when my renewel came through at 40 % more than i was paying the year before woth no no claims was told that every insurance company would be similer, but get a quote and see what they can do as there that confident, i got a quote of 536 quid fully comp compared to the 1500 quid 3rd party and his only comment he could say was " no claims will be in the post" not even thanks for the 1100 quid for fook all but lies and bull shit

also greenlight said no insurance company will EVER allow you to drive another car unless its got insurance on it

that was a lie so im guessing that in a way there all the same

are you SURE that's not the case.. i've never come across any that would, the fact that it is already insured is a specific stipulation normally. Otherwise every Tom and Dick would have two cars and insure one (the cheap one ),

ok think about it for a second, you have a crash in ya dads car, what to you produce and whos insurance do you claim from, its to prevent it BUT read the policym there is no such spec in it stating it needs to be, ive been done for no insurance before and so thats the main reason why incase i borrow a amtes insured car thats not got the 500bhp engine declared and then im not insured again, was confirmed that the only potential problem is when its left on the road uninsured but as its all resident parking there would be no risk of that here

i do check things out when i can, as paying 1200 quid for 4 sheets of A4 paper means i wanna get all i can out of it

btw they also beat the quote i got of 530 quid for me cabrio with 359 quid but then added a few pointless things like legal cover and interest but still lower and full comp

the issue i had was the guy stated theres NO company that ever does that and im mistaken to get a sale , not a dig at tony, just what i was told, its not the worst thing a insurance company told me and i do appreciate that theytold me rather than said yes to get the cash

rich you can not have ANY finacial interest in the car what so ever, can not be registered by you or even payed for by you

but in all honesty and hand on heart my missus bought the cossie with her own cash and can be proven too and is in her name aswell

Ginge you are wrong and greenlight are correct

if you have a policy that allows you to drive any other cars then that car has to be taxed, tested and insured by someone else owner or whatever.

otherwise we would all be driving minis on fully comp policies and driving our cossies arround on it.

if your driving the cossie on your cabrio policy and the cossie is not insured by anyoen else ie your mrs you are not insured.

read the small print.

when i got a producer driving someone elses car i showed my insurance policy and was sent home and told i needed the policy which the car tax was obtained with ie a policy with the car reg on it aswell as my own.

craig ive checked the small print and had a producer for a seat belt fine, was all cool, think its a copper who dont know the law again

i repeat again and the theory side of things !!!!, if i crash your cossie and kill a old ladie whos policy does it come from

serious mate, i dont have to prove it, well ok i will, read you small print about it or send it to me via pm as i lost all my policy stuff when i taxed my car a few months ago and lost me tax disc, mot, insurance and log book walking fooking home

im curantly underwritten by norwich union and have cheacked it, last year i was covered buy zurich and had the same too

thats when ya know a guys read the small print when he understands the underwriters

but i do know a guy from here that had a similer issue as you saud and he had to use a traders policy hes mate had to cover himself but it wont stand up in court unless your at harringey magistraites, then they will rename the planets and anything else to convict the bastards

well, i'm still with Craig on this one..
I've been required to produce the insurance cover for a.n.other vehicle (belonging to someone else) that i was driving under my own "driving other cars not owned by yourself" clause..
Also my Norwich Union policy was quite specific about "driving other cars not owned by yourself" stipulating "provided it is insured by another party"...

Like Spadge says, you have to with car insurance and none of us think twice about it, well I dont anyway. It is also not the insurance company asking but the under writers.

They have to build up a picture of you from just a phone call and those questions help determine you when you consider the product they are selling is based purely on risk.

How else would they build a picture of you?

for a car to be on the public highway it MUST HAVE MOT, TAX and INSURANCE.

If it doesnt have 1 or more of the above, then it is not aloud on the road.

Remember too, if the sales person does not take down the information correctly, its miss selling a policy, which if was shown to be the sales persons fault, its a fine and possiable prison sentence

I have to be very carful when I take down people info cus some people wont tell you everything

i know CIS allow you to drive any car at all that isnt registered to you wether it has insurance or not.
the only issue is when you come to leave it at the roadside as expect it technically has no ins once you leave the vehicle

When insurance companys allow you to drive any car this is what they mean :

Your insured to drive the car on the road but

A , You must have the owners consent before hand

B , Whilst driving your covered by the minium amount of insurance required by law and that is THIRD PARTY ONLY !
C , If your involved in an accident with another vehicle and its your fault , they can claim on your insurance , if you crash the car and no other car is involved then you alone have to pay for the repairs .
D , You are not covered for theft of any kind , which means if you stop at the shops and some little scrote fucks off in your mates Cossie you better have a healthy bank balance as your insurance wont pay out .
E , As soon as you stop driving and park up your no longer insured on the car until your start driving it again .

It also doesnt matter if the car has current insurance or not because whilst on the Queens highway the car is insured through you
